A woman opens the doors to you. She allows you to look inside, so that you can see the emotions that inhabit her, her darkness, her sorrows and her loneliness. She takes care of everything. But who takes care of her?
Are we over-caring for others or are we letting them fade away? Are we aware of how we care for others? Who takes care of you? This piece takes you on a journey inside this character, to discover in a glance what moves us to take care of us and others, to take care as a society. Arrawraw is a dreamlike piece in which dance and voice take us to a familiar and yet magical place.
Taking as a starting point an ‘arrorró’, a lullaby from the artist's native Canary Islands, Arrawraw takes us on a journey to the origins of each one of us, searching for that common origin of all, the beginning. The ritual, the ancient, the known, the memories, the nostalgia, the origin. A repetitive, ritual and infinite staging. Dance as a vehicle for trance, a light that dresses the stage like velvet and the voice as a support of the experience. Arrawraw is a piece to let yourself be lulled. “Arrawraw” Idea/Concept/Direction/Choreographic Composition: Daura Hernández García Creation and performance: Daura Hernández García, Andrea Pérez Bueno. In many different relationships, whether at work, in love, in friendships, etc., communication is based on what we already know about the other person, and the interpretation sometimes happens very quickly, even before the message has been fully sent. This interpretation brings confusion or conflict in many cases, and clarity in others. What happens when this communication is non-verbal?
Concept, idea and choreography: Daura Hernández García Co-creation: Lin Verleger and Daura Hernández García Performance: Philipp Weber and Daura Hernández García Music: Excerpts: Lion (Four Tet, Jamie xx), Power and Light (Len Faki), Babel (Gustavo Bravetti, Keanu Silva) Research possible thanks to the Baden-Württemberg Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst |

CREDITS
¡Bruja! Witch! Woman!
Raising their voices, connecting to nature, reading, writing,...being free. Those were the mistakes of the witches. In every continent, country, ethnicity, they were and they are. Witches don’t care about boundaries or separation, they believe in connection, in transformation, in sisterhood. They were judged by those who didn’t understand them and, nowadays, the story hasn’t changed much. For those that were, are, and will be. Here, the witches they couldn’t burn. Concept, choreography, dance: Daura Hernández García Dramaturgy assistance: Luis Hergón Musical arrangements and music editing: Max Braun, Daura Hernández García Original Music: Meiga- David González Music (extracts): Interpellation/North/For We the living/Jaguar - Superpoze |
