Choreographer, Dancer, Performer, Creator, Teacher
Daura is a Canary Islands´ dancer, creator and teacher based between Germany and Spain.
She has an eclectic background that has led to a diverse professional life.
In her teenage years she had a non-formal education in theatre and dance until she went to university. There, in Madrid, she continued doing theatre for a while and she started contemporary dance parallel to her studies in "Physical Activity and Sports Science". Later on, in London she trained at the London Contemporary Dance School, getting a PGDip in Advance Dance Studies, followed by a MA Performance: Dance, in the University of Chichester. Daura was always interested in project management as well; in 2010 & 2011 she worked as a production assistant in 15 & 16 MASDANZA, The International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands. While in London she got more into the practice of Yoga and decided to become a certified yoga teacher.
In 2013 she moved to Germany where she started freelancing as dancer, choreographer, performer and dance and yoga teacher.
As a performer Daura has worked with different choreographers such as Victor Fung, Jorge Crecis, Joachim Fleischer, Juliette Villemin, Akós Hargitay or Thomas K. Kopp, among others. In the last years she has had the possibility of doing more collaboration with other artists, from actors and musicians to video artists.
As a choreographer she has been creating her own solo pieces and collaborated with other artists since the beginning of her career. Her first long-piece "Arrawraw" was premiered in Spain in 2021.
As an educator or teacher Daura has more than 15 years of experience starting while still studying. As is her artistic training is her teaching experience: diverse and in many different fields. She has taught people with different backgrounds, abilities and needs, from the age of 4 to 70, from amateurs to professionals and she loved it every time. This rich diversity in her experience has helped her achieve a great adaptability and interest in mixing styles and approaches whether in dance or yoga. For Daura experience/experimentation and connection with the body are very important concepts that she tries to transfer to the stage, the studio or the yoga mat. Since 2013 she has been teaching professional dance training at Produktions Zentrum e.V. and Yoga in different studios in Stuttgart.
Daura is interested in movement from a holistic perspective, as well as the movement affected by other art forms. In her work, her experience in theatre, dance and music is clearly manifested, as it is visible in her pieces that not only the body has presence but often also the voice or a certain personal narrative.
Currently, Daura alternates her work with different companies and projects with her own creations in which the body and the voice merge and intertwine.
